I won't argue with Jim M. He was there I wasn't. I would like to hear from someone though that had a (example) 70 nova, chevelle etc painted a 69-68 color and had paperwork for it. I've only seen same year crossovers. Otherwise I think you'd have seen a lot of 70 Lemans blue cars.
I have heard of cars that came to dealerships in primer, then were painted. I can't prove that.
There are a lot of things we know, and don't know, along with exceptions to the rule. That's why we try to sort it out here.
