Is it possible they came on a Buick or Olds version of a Nova? Later model year perhaps?

I also have never seen these cardboard inserts...perhaps they were placed their like plastic on the seats...then removed during new car prep??
As for the spare...I doubt that is a factory spare tire for a 1970...the white letter option didn't come out until 71 or 72. It is certainly a vintage looking tire...I would suggest double checking the wheel size...standard wheels for base cars would be 14 x 5 plain steel...14 x 6 size was optional...the wide ovals (E70 x 14) normally were installed on 14 x 7 in 1970 (rally, SS or XT) It was more than likely added at some point... Now back to the car...very solid looking survivor...would make a great platform for a hotrod, Deuce/SS clone, or sleeper. Good luck..wilma

No discounting at all what scott is showing us,but could those cardboard inserts be instead well thought out homemades?
My father made a similar looking inserts for our 65 Mustang,when we would go fishing and the tackle box would sometimes roll over & open on the corners.He hated having to fish his had down there and get stuck with a lure. My dad liked to take curves fast.. |

The Mustangs came with pressboard extensions, no need for cardboard ones ... They DID warp when they got wet ... whether from holes rusting through them or poor seals, the cooler spilling, etc

We bought ours used some 12 years after & there were no inserts in it by then.
The 1/4's were solid. |

A buddy of mine got a 12K mile 70 375HP car in 79, The car interior still smelled new. With the exception of the motor everything was still intact (for a few months anyways) and those where not present.

If I had that little jewel I would leave it just like it is. I dont understand why anyone would turn a nice car like that into something its not. I think its beautiful like it is

The trunk cardboard inserts are no doubt factory pieces they are still glued with a foam looking substance to the extension and never removed or touched.The car orig had the ugly rally wheels which i have and had a double white wall tire they are mint.I checked the brakes while i had the wheels off and even all the shoes etc are orig units.I found a build sheet in the car that didn,t belong to this car along with the orig sheet for the car..kinda weird i thought in the same seats. Pretty common on the broadcast sheets in the seats. I'd suspect that the cardboard items were typically removed during dealer prep, neat item to see though - a first for most of us. The double white wall tires are also typical, you can see them in the brochure pics.
