i have a hurst catalog from 74 and it shows the round stick.
plus it seems that one out of every twenty or so on ebay has the flat stick so leeds me to believe less available means earlier.

I'm just guessing here, but I would think the round stick was probably more cost effective, since it was welded onto the plate.

If anything, I thought the flat reverse lever was maybe slightly more common, but I haven't actually been counting...
