8 Days, 2829 miles, with only two little issues........(1).....I changed the gas tank sending unit before we left because I wasn't smart enough to think the issue thru......I was concerned that the amount of gas that I was putting in the tank wasn't in relation to what the Dakota Digital gauge was reading.....It stayed on 99% for a very long time and when it would finally go down to say 80-90%.....I would put in 8-10 gallons........So, I assumed there was a Ohm issue....did some testing and it didn't make sense, so I changed out the unit with a repro one.....I checked the Ohm readings prior to installation and it checked out O.K........so I put it in........same results......
During the ride home yesterday I was able to take some time to think things thru and all of a sudden it dawns on me that I needed the extra room at the front of the tank for the GTO Fuel Pump
assy and made the tapered spacers to shim the tank down at an angle to give me the room I needed for clearance.....Duhhh!!.......makes perfect sense why the readings are what they are.....LOL
2nd issue.....the car didn't use a drop of oil thruout the trip....when I get home last night and unload the car......I noticed oil droplets on the rear of the car and bumper....I check the oil and I'm a quart down.....put the car on the lift today and I notice the oil pressure adapter for the sender that we made at the shop had a slight crack in it at the fitting and was leaking oil all over the bottom of the car.......small issue but a big mess on the exhaust system....burnt on oil....Yuck!!........I'll make a new one tomorrow out of a solid piece of aluminum......I used 1/2" round and welded it to the stock GM piece but after tapping the pipe thread it was pretty thin and cracked there.....Lucky it happened at the end of the trip.....
Other than that the car drove like a Dream without issues at all......and that Big trunk was a blessing......LOL
Here's the Culprit.......
