If the originality is important to you..have it recored by a good shop. Also, try to have them re-use the factory top rail on the core if possible (don't let them throw this away)...that way it will have the correct look. If there is a tag affixed to the tank, be sure to remove it and save it with your vehicle docs. These tags often fall off or are thrown away by radiator shops...if the tanks are in rough shape (dings and dents) try to have them smoothed out and then glass beaded before the recore. All of this may seem like overkill..just depends on how nice/original you want things to be.
