The car had the original fender piercings for the "SS" and the "454" emblems and the outline of the emblems in the old paint was clear, plus it was quite evident where the original rectangular Motion emblems were installed (with double stick tape) directly below the factory emblems on both of the original fenders. There are some "as found" pictures of these areas.

It is a mistake in the magazine write up. Wouldn't be the first time.
