I think you should avoid that steel core gasket, especially with your aluminum intake manifold. There used to be a certain Fel-Pro intake gasket that even Edelbrock advised against NOT using and I think it may be the steel ones you mentioned. Anyway, you can't go wrong with Fel-Pro #1211. It's perfect for your application and it's the one that I always use for rectangular ports.
