Got it. Makes sense now.

I thought for some reason that having a Bluetooth connection meant you did not need anything to plug into the underdash connector.

When they are saying that a car is Bluetooth ready they mean that you can connect you mobile phone to the cars audio system so your phonecall is routed to the speakers of your car. There is also a mike that you can speak back through. This makes your cars stereo a big handsfree system.

There are headunits that does that too. I have a Pioneer in my '69 Camaro giving me handsfree over Bluetooth.
