The strange thing on that paint code is that FC7 (Plum Crazy/In Violet) was a 1970 Chrysler color and wouldn't have been available until early September 1969 when the new cars came out.

Were they still building 1969 Chevelles at that time? Which makes me think that purple on the Chevelle is a GM truck or Cadillac color?

Hard to get a real good look but, doesn't that Mustang hardtop in that picture look like a 1970 model? If it is that might explain how he was able to get the Chevelle painted in that shade of purple.

don't be so sure they did not have plum crazy purple in 69. I just looked at a 69 GTS 383 that is one of 9 painted in hemi orange. that blew me away. I was sure hemi orange did not come out until the 70 model year. I was wrong (atleast on hemi orange).

It is possible mother mopar was getting some early trials of 70 colors, on 69 models.

A few points on this:

1. Plum Crazy indeed was a '70-71 color.

2. Production figures for 1969 colors are not available, so the "1 of 9" thing is BS.

3. Hemi Orange came out in 1969 and is quite common on A12 cars.

Why would they need a trial?

I do think the plum crazy color is possible on late production 69 camaros, as the 70 camaro production was delayed.

I myself would not believe plum crazy purple would be on a 69 chevelle, if chevelle production ended in july-august, like most cars.
