Yes, the Drag Pack makes the Cobra Jet "Super!"
So here's my bone to pick with the article on Sefton's Cobra: The 429/360 - the Thunder Jet - was not available in 1971. And the other two 429s were Cobra Jets - the C-code without ram air, and the J-code with ram air. The Super Cobra Jet never received its own engine designation per the VIN, so I don't consider it a separate engine. In Mopar Land, you just specified 4.10 gears and then you got the Super Track Pack, so the CJ/SCJ really is not much different except that it was packaged differently and with some heavy-duty engine parts added. And, of course, the SCJ wasn't built for the Torino in 1971, as Marti Auto Works has determined. |
