Me too . . when the '65 cars came out (fall of 1964) I was 12 years old, and I lusted after the new Impala. I finally bought my first (non-SS) in 1970. It was stolen in 1979, and it took me 32 years to find the replacement.

Wow! That really is a great car! I've always been a fan of 327-300 4-SPD cars. Although 409's were considered top dog, many people still didn't like them and often wanted the 327-300HP motors in their cars instead. I grew up around many of these cars, but mostly '62-63's. In fact, my mother had a factory Black '65 Impala Wagon that was a factory 327-300 3-SPD column shift car.

----I cant tell you guys how many of my buddies back in the day took 327/300s and stuck a 350hp or 365hp cam in them along with an aluminum manifold and Holley. Those cars were everywhere around Medina, Ohio back then and would almost always surprize the uninitiated!.....Bill S

Very nice car. My best friend received a 65 "409" 4-speed convert as a high school graduation gift in 65. It was blue with a white top. I got a hunting dog. Just didn't seem fair.

Yes, they are great cars. Good drivers, too (except when they try to drive past gas stations). I think it's impossible to fill one up while it's running.
