Man, this is cool. Just what I'm thinking about doing to my '69 L34 SS Nova. Few changes as the car is more for performance then "looks". Original motor and trans long gone, so doing a early OEM style, day 2 ZL-1 motor. I have a '052 block, '72 dated '074 heads, '198 & '163 intake along with a TR2-X tunnelram and a old set of Hooker Super Comp headers.

Now I can't go out and get all "period correct" parts like these guys, but maybe a "newer" set of cragars SS or something. MSD is a 15 yr old 6AL unit, and traction bars are possible if they will work with my rear set up, even just for looks.

I do have an old Moroso "leaf spring re-locator kit" that moves the rear springs in about 3" per side.

See my car was done as a Yenko ySc tribute car back in the mid '90's. Red with black bench int. 4sp. and 6" black cowl hood. Nothing really cut up but a serious 10 point cage and REAR frame connectors that run though the rear floor. Car was fast, 10.47 with a 396/4sp, 4.56 on the motor, plus NOS but couldn't use it. I want to see just how fast the ZL-1 can be. I'm sure low 9's on the motor are possible.

JUST don't know what I want as a trans??? 4sp, 5sp, 6sp, T400, P/G or even a Turbo-Clutch. I have access to all just not sure what the outcome will be for spring of 2012. I'm really leaning towards the T400, just haven't went to get it yet.

John

Thanks Sam
I spent alot of time mounting that puppy. Besides taking the dash pad off, I ended up with the whole dash carrier out too. I patched the Mr. Gasket tach right into the existing plug for the factory tach, so that part was cake, the bad part was when I pulled the tach plug off one of the terminal blades came off the tach. That's why I pulled the dash to repair the factory tach.
The mount for the tach was made from a 3" door hinge and picks up 2 upper holes on the dash.
