Great story and project. Sadly a lot of restoration projects like this one and war plane projects will die with the Veterans of WWII.

There is a restored PT boat at the American Museum of the Pacific
War (formerly the Nimitz Museum) in Fredericksburg, TX. Not
operational, but restored.

Great museum dedicated only to the Pacific War. Worth a visit.
