Dave and Dan.....I would take that car down to the local spray car wash and gently hit the engine bay with some power water and take it home and Boeshield or WD-40 everything under the hood and then wipe it down or spray some on a rag and wipe all metal. Will look good and preserve some of what is left of the paint and toning.

I would agree with that, Donnie. My all-original 69 Chevelle has a plastic PS cap that I have absolutely no reason to believe has ever been changed, and yet I have had some self-professed 'experts' tell me that it is "wrong" for the car

I have inspected very early survivor 69 camaros from 9B of 68 and found them to have the black plastic type, and the cars have been from both LA and Nor. Does that represent every car or take into consideration vendor shortages and such no, but every original 69 camaro I have inspected has had the black plastic. Donnie what information do you have regarding the usage of the metal cap? BTW the metal cap part# is 846 and the plastic is 820.

That's correct, Plastic fill cap and Deep Groove Power Steering Pulley 3941105DD. I've owned my 69 Z/28 since 1977 and its what I see.
