now if i go to the machine shop, and look at the stamping on the engine pad, after he blasts it and dips it, what if its a "MN" and not a "CMN"?
is this a bad thing if the "C" isnt their in front of the "MN"
id say its not to good. please let me know, if i can make it soon im going up there its a long drive to say the least.

I don't think you should take any more chances. Just sell the Camaro now

I dont think you should be seeing a C before the MN - as far as i know the rear end for the late cars had the stamped C as well as the 70 rears for the 70 camaro's.

I believe this to be true as well, the 'C' prefix on the rear makes sense and the location of the 'C' is consistent with a factory stamping. In other words, the 'C' should not be part perfectly in line with the BE, as I don't believe the gang holder could fit the prefix character. The '70 rears are indeed stamped this way, the 'C' is off on its own.

From what you've told us, albeit difficult to read sometimes due to the size of the paragraphs, it looks like you have a COPO car. The body number is actually a better indicator than the VIN in this case!

thanks marlin
i will do better with the paragrphs.
i did post a photo of my body number, its a photo of the whole cowl tag, look at the pic's, i have some of the crank, block and cam, but the cam i dont think has a chance at belonging to the engine. it needs a part number not just a 427 and a FN right? these are in storage , not kept in the chicken coop with the block. they do look alot better in shape,

i do have a excellant pic of the VIN but im to shaky to show it, i dont know why but its like my cars social security number, these days who knows what someone could do with it???

i a used micrometer on the crank, the mains are .010 the rods are .030, bummer i dont think i can use it because im not sure if they make a rod bearing under .030 do they? my luck they dont. is this even the right crank casting number?
thanks for the reply.

next to the 427 stamping, it looks like an "HP" upside down, is that a faint part number off to the right?
this is regarding the camshaft end photo.
thank you

i cannot figure out how to set the date on my camera, these were taken about 2 months ago, but i cant get the date right, its a canon power shot A560, anyone know how to set it? im not that good with it, i just learned how to use the macro button on it for close up's.

i will try to fix or set it. the time is right but the date is wrong?? if you fix the date it messes up the time and if you fix the time it messes up the date?? what is this a leap year camera or something???
sorry for the mess up.
