Happy 20th Heart Birthday to my Girlfriend Holly

Thanks for posting this Reid!

It's hard to fathom that at this exact time 20 years ago...that Holly's NEW heart had just started beating on it's own...and that she'd spend the next 24 hours "bleeding out" of her sutures...before she clotted up and stopped bleeding. The critical care nurse that was on duty pushed FFP (fresh frozen plasma) for more than 18 hours...before Holly finally started clotting.

Her body had gotten used to such low blood pressures with the sick heart that when the new heart with the great blood pressures was put in...her body couldn't handle it.

Here's a picture of Holly...that is pretty self explanatory...but as an aside-less than 5 hours after this picture was taken, Holly cardiac arrested more than 10 times. They cardioverted her all the way into the transplant surgery room. (BTW, on the lifeflight helicopter trip to Loma Linda...the CCU nurse said Holly was smiling all the way).

Also, this picture was taken by the Charge Nurse at CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County) right before Holly left on the flight. I think that Lynn and I were home showering...as we spent the night at home...it was the first night in a month that we were at home for any more than about 10 minutes.

There are so many people to thank...for Holly being around. Doctors, nurses, firemen, friends! Prayer works!
