Camaros @ carlisle no more!!

I was roaming the internet this fine Saturday morning and noticed this post. I was compelled to respond on Carlisle Events behalf.

The rumor you’ve heard is indeed true; the ACA is headed to another location. We enjoyed working with them in the past and we certainly wish them much success with their future events. The Carlisle GM Nationals, which will be held June 24-26, 2011, will be another great year. We’ve got a lot planned for this event and we’ll continue to put forth our strongest efforts to ensure each and every person that attends this event is smiling upon their departure and eager to return the following year. As many of you know, we host 10 events a year and strive to make every attendee, vendor and sponsor happy so they continue to come back year after year. The Carlisle GM Nationals is no different.

As a matter of fact, our team and I just got back from SEMA and have been working closely with various groups to ensure this year’s transition is a good one for everyone involved. Our events and our friendly team work hard at each of our shows, we listen closely to our attendees whenever there is feedback. We’ll continue to strive to make the Carlisle GM Nationals event the very best in the country. Your feedback will help us improve and we’ll do our best to make the adjustments necessary moving forward. We will have plenty of Camaro’s at the event; I hope you’re one of them!

Just talked with two of the ACA concours judges. Lance must be drinking too much kool-aid. Typical politian for Carlisle. The fact is and this is right from the horses mouth.......Carlisle pushed ACA from the show due to how they like to run things. Seperating the Y building concours judging from the show field was a stupid thing to do. Many who attended the show did not know that there were Camaros in Y building. When you segragate a show of that size and don't work with the organization that brings in 700 Camaros, there's a serious problem. It's Carlisle's loss.

Was also told that some of the show cars were paid to bring their cars to the show and ACA officals were not. I know that Mcneish had his NHRA national record holding 67 Z28 there for all to see. The fastest 302 Z28 in the world. He was not paid. Christinsen had the Indy pace car there that paced the '69 Indy 500. He was not paid. These are only a small example of the politics that goes on behind the scenes.

Without the ACA Camaro Nationals at Carlisle, that event will die a slow death!

All that happened at Carlisle was Carlisle's fault...........you have no idea of all the issues that they caused behind the scenes. It's not easy doing what had to be done and at 59 years old, it's the last thing that I want to do. But, I will support the ACA and the Camaro Nationals as long as I am healthy to do so. This event needs to be there for all who are serious about restoring these cars correctly........and the good old Camaro enthusiast! All of our staff with be there. These are people you can depend on........and if Carlisle does not want to work with us, then that's the way it will be. We will move on!

Here's a couple of examples for you. Did you know that owners were paid to bring cars in the garage outside the fairgrounds??? People like myself and Larry Christensen own some of the rarest cars known to the hobby. We don't charge anything to bring our cars there. I brought out my 1967 Z28 NHRA National recording holding Z28 for all to see. &quot;THE YENKO EATER.&quot; It's the fastest NHRA stock eliminator 302 Z28 in the world......and restored like a show car! I am glad to bring it for all to see. FREE! Larry Christensen has brough THE 1969 Indy pace that paced the race.........does it all for free. But yet others are being paid to bring in cars......and cars that don't rise to the pedigree of what our organization brings to the table. Ken Lucas, Larry Christensen and Bob Harris restore the nicest Camaros in the world.........and they are at the ACA Camaro Nats for all to see. I'm only touching the tip of the iceberg. You have no idea on the issues that go on behind closed doors............

I happened to like the GM Nationals at Carlisle. To me being a Camaro lover it was more like the Camaro Nationals than anything else. I would have liked to see other models and GM brands participate. Possibly Carlisle didn't do enough to encourage the others brands, or other reasons.

I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision for the ACA to move the venue, and my hope is that the finger pointing by others stops.

The Solid Lifter Showroom ( garage outside fairgrounds), organizers and participants were not paid to bring cars period.

Now there may be valid reasons for the split but lets not rush to judgement. In addition, at this point a decision has been made to split, and point of the above post is??? Anyway both the ACA and Carlisle has been very good to our hobby. I don't have a dog in this fight, but want to set the record straight on that point.

Who knows maybe something can be worked out that is a win, win for both the Camaro Nationals and Carlisle. Making this a pissing contest leads to know where.

The Vintage Certification team has been part of the concours judging team at the Camaro National since day one. In fact we were the first to judge in the Y building back in 1999 and we are disappointed.
