TAKING A PICTURE WOULD BE VERY HARD TO DO I HAD TO SCRAPE OFF GREESE AND CRUD TO SEE THE NUMBERS LAYING ON MY BACK DONT THINK IT IS A RESTAMP ? SO THE STAMP P8S16 DOES NOT MEAN IT WAS BUILT IN NOV OF 68 ? I KNOW M22 WAS RARE SO I THOUGH IT WAS POSSABLE TO RUN THAT FAR BACK ?

1968 and older Muncies used nuts and washer to hold the shift levers onto the studded shift shafts sticking out of the trans...
1969 and late Muncies used bolts to attach the shift levers... At the end of the 1968 model year any left over Muncies would have been put into the replacement parts system, NOT used for 1969 production(shifter won't interchange)... Hope this helps... Crash |

Sounds like an obvious restamp. 1969 cars always use the P9 code, model year, not actual year. Shift linkage also changed for '69 using bolts instead of studs on the side cover. #306 on the side cover. '68 used a #685 side cover.
