You're not kidding Dennis - I drove Dad's 409 again this past weekend - with new radials, power steering and brakes, and a Hurst shifter, and it was still a handful unless going straight. How on earth anyone drove these cars fast back in the day is beyond me.

What a sweet piece!!!

Regardless of straight line performance, pulling gears while driving sideways and whole feel of controlling the monster is what I like and miss most about these cars..

We had the 409 sideways at 100 mph on Rt. 41 one Saturday night. Eddy was racing a 421 Pontiac, and he never lifted, and it all seemed quite normal! When we got back to the Pie Pan drive in, the Pontiac driver said Eddy was insane!
