Not sure I understand "Wide Paint Stripes" Its a vinyl material, not paint?

Thanks for input fellas. Body side accent stripe sounds logical. Anyone else? RPO?

The '69 D96 side stripe was vinyl. We bought our one car new and during shipping, the driver front fender got a scrape right on the stripe. A new one was ordered and the old stripe was replaced.

Sam,

Wish I was home, have several build sheet photos there. I'm fairly certain my 69 Malibu had an RPO for the "side tape moulding", but can't be sure without seeing it.

The reason I bring up the Malibu is that I know it had the thin painted on side stripe; earlier there was mention of "wide stripe". A gent at a recent car cruise-in showed me original pictures of his 69 Chevelle SS, it was burgundy in color and had a thin red stripe similar to the ones that 69 Malibus had. He bought the car new from the Chevy dealership he worked at. I had always thought the SS only got the wide stripe, but could be wrong.

Hope this doesn't confuse the issue.

I can save you a little time here Phil. Just checked that Malibu buildsheet you sent me a while back and it shows "BX4 - SIDE TAPE MLDG".

Hope this helps.
