The weekend turned out great. We were down on car count due to the bad weather but way up on people count. Thanks to all that did come as we had a GREAT time regardless of the weather. I only wish we had done it Sunday instead. The weather was perfect and we had over 3000 cars pass through with the HRPT. Thanks to the Barnharts for putting up with us all weekend and especially Ann who endured migraine headaches, vomiting and what we think to be an absess just to make sure she was there to help me and greet people. What a trooper. I could not do it all without her!

We did take some photos but not nearly enough and I will try and post them. Special thanks to Galye Jenkins for bring his front engine dragster and asking Annie to sit in and start it. She was thrilled to death. I also got a chance after that. Awesome to say the least and brought back a LOT of memories from my Pro Stock racing days. I will try to post pictures of all the weekend later after I get caught up.

Thanks to all who joined in and stopped by this weekend especially to the Barnharts who stayed the weekend with us and our 4 leggers! Best weekend in a long time!
Rick and Annie

I will post pictures later as I have time as I want to show you the huge smile on Bob and Nancy Lionbergers face (as well as Helen's) when Dennis Barker and Nickey Chicago presented Bob and Nancy with the keys to their #2 Fred Gibb Stage II Camaro. Bob spent most of the afternoon giving rides. We also presented the keys to Eveyln Brandt, owner of the 63 Chevy II that Annie and I worked sleeplessly for 3 1/2 months to complete for the open house. We also sincerely appreciated Bob giving Evelyn a ride in his new Camaro. She told me later that was one hell of a thrill and this lady knows a lot about high performance cars! She even drives a 502 powered 53 Chevy pickup. Awesome day for them all.

Thank you to Rick & Ann for a GREAT DAY on Saturday. We at NicKey Chicago are very proud to have been able to deliver Bob & Nancy's new Fred Gibb Super Camaro at the 2nd Annual MCRD open house. It made it EXTRA SPECIAL to have member's of the SYC Family there for the delivery.

Again, Rick & Ann THANK YOU for the GREAT HOSPITALITY and the chance to share the weekend with you.

Finally got a little time to sit down and post some photos. I must apoligize as I did not take very many pictures as we were running most of the weekend. The weather on Saturday sucked but many people showed up anyways though the car count was down understandably. Thank you Dennis/Bob/Nancy for adding to the excitement of the weekend with the delivery of Bob and Nancy's Gibb Camaro. Also to Nancy and Helen for coming as I know Helen is not feeling the best these days and for bringing your Gibb Camaro as well.

Bob with a smile that could be seen in the next county upon seeing his completed car for the first time.

Here Bob and Nancy are starting their car for the first time with Dennis Barker and Nancy Gibb looking on.

Bob and Nancy taking their first test drive in their new car. Needless to say, they gave several 'test rides' throughout the morning. Also needless to say, Bob was NOT afraid to stretch is new rides legs and what an awesome sound this car made. In this shot I am telling Bob to uncork the headers as I am personal friends with the Police Chief and he was not around that day anyway! Besides, he also owns a Camaro and is a gearhead himself.

Here is Annie taking her shot at starting this 1000 horsepower digger for our little cackle fest. Thank you very much to Galye Jenkins and crew for this opportunity. You made her day! I did not realize how much pain Annie was in at this time as I was unaware that she was suffering a migraine headache, vomiting and an abscess all at the same time. She did not let on how bad she was feeling yet was not about to pass on a chance to start this dragster.

Just a moment of some 'idleing' of the engine while warming it up. Gayle even let her mash the peddle a couple of times.

This is just part of our Sunday Hot Rod Power Tour group. Thanks to all who stopped by for refreshments including the Jackass and crew as well as Bob and Vicki Ashton of the MCACN show and Dennis and Vicki Cumby all of which were a special treat and a great group of people!

Part of another group that stopped for refreshments.

Evelyn and Glenn Brandt stopped by as well. She is the 87 year old owner of Brandt Consolidated and was given the opportunity to start her car for the very first time after a sleepless 3 1/2 month full nut and bolt restoration so that we could get the car done for our open house. We only have a few minor things to complete but at least she could hear her little baby run again after almost 10 years. Her mom bought this car brand new in 1963 after her dad was hit by a train earlier that same year. It was very rewarding to see the smile and tears on her face.

Well that is about all I took unfortunately. I fail every time with the camera and never seem to take enough pictures. Our heartfelt THANK YOU again for everyone who came to both events and shared the weekend with us. One more time, the people make these events all worth while and the cars are only an excuse to get them together. Thanks especially again to Annie for all your help pulling this weekend off especially when in so much pain! What a great woman!
Rick and Annie
