The number by the crosspin retaining bolt is the casting date (Julian day) of the year it was cast.
So, 138 would be the 138th day of that year. The assembly date will be stamped into the carrier case instead of casr into it. I will generaly be in a "letter-number-letter" format like D22J. It is most often located on the OD of the ring gear mounting flange on the back side of the carrier. The alternate location is the balancing boss to the right of the clutch plate key hole. Hope this helps, Eric |

But what letter in the third spot represents what years? Thanks.
