[ QUOTE ]
Ken...I'm sure there are a BUNCH of us that would like to know. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting to renew here until I do see what happened. [/ QUOTE ] I for one, will not be renewing my membership due to the way the sYc administrators have handled this whole ordeal. Keeping in mind that this is an open forum, a paid member should have the right to express his opinion (providing he or she doesn't post profanity or pictures of a pornographic nature) regardless if it agrees with the opinion of the administration or other members...that's what open forum discussion is all about. When administrators start deleting posts because they don't agree with them, or they might rub someone the wrong way, that is censorship and I want no part of it! Kwhiz's contributions and threads relating to cars that he has built over the years, have been more valuable than any other single contributor in my opinion, and chasing him away over something so trivial, is just ridicules. This whole thing started over the one of one Nova thread which still has not been resolved and even though the administration and some members were getting tired of reading about it, there were and are many more of us that were not and would still like the issues with that particular car resolved. We miss you here Ken and I for one wish you the very best!

I am novice compared to the senior contributors on this site (kwhizz). I am getting by without the stars under my ID. The way I was treated on a simple yenko color question after finding a real daytona yellow chevelle did it for me (see no reason to pay). as a free site, its a fine site.

[/ QUOTE ] "I for one, will not be renewing my membership due to the way the sYc administrators have handled this whole ordeal." [/ QUOTE ] That's it in a nutshell. I was originally of the impression this was a site where you could swap information and debate the merits of specific cars and specific equipment without fear of reprisal, particularly from advertisers. The truth is, in my time I've seen some very good magazines capitulate to the needs (demands) of advertisers, without giving the readers (the folks who actually support the thing) any consideration. You can see the results on the newsstand today. Now I'm now wondering if it was a mistake to join, pay for the membership and actually post questions and answers on this board. Wayne Scraba |

With apologies to the mods and the Clary's...
I know Ken very well...and I know the moderators and everyone else that was involved with this...from the start. I think that there were some misconceptions about what was meant...what was actually said...and what they end result was. Ken only questioned the legitimacy of the car (which I don't think should be a problem) due to the fact that some things didn't add up....at least to him and quite a few others. Ken asked the owner to explain, which the owner chose not to do (which is his right). I'll admit, there were some stupid comments made in the posts...but NONE of them were by Ken. Ken stuck to the need for info. I think that the posts may have gone on too long...but it was about finding out if a car was real. I found it very intersting to read...as I don't have a clue about 840 heads (or whatever they are) or what heads came on what...so to me it was a learing experience. The knowledge on this site is one of the big reasons that people come here. The other big reason that people come here is the ability to make friends easily and not be intimidated. Face it, there are PLENTY of other sites around where that type of BS occurs. I am saddened that we have lost one of the good guys...to something I think that could have been taken care of in a different way...with different results. I am sure that when Ken decides to tell his side of things...it will be as it happened. Sorry to see you go Ken. Hopefully I will see you in Ca. ![]()

I thought the 1 of 1 was good for the site. I appreciated some of those compelling facts which were shared. I'm sorry to see things turn sour and the discussion discontinued on here.
I'm not sure if I agree with you Bruce about Ken's side being exactally as it happened though. I'd bet we could hear the sYc side of the story and Ken's then find the truth somewhere in the middle. Regardless of who is more right here, losing Ken's perspective on here sucks. |

Damn, I enjoyed looking at the pictures, and don't care if its a 1 of 1 car or 1 of 11111 cars.
And you must admit, Ken is a pretty funny guy too who provided lots of entertainment. ![]()

I want to preface by saying this is my opinion. The subject matter was fine by itself. As it progressed to me it became beating a dead horse. As time rolled on Ken backed off and then others kept beating it. For the last month or so of the thread no tangible information was brought forth.
The last thread morphed into a personal joke/attack on one of our members and that's where it crossed the line. I have emailed and spoken to Ken regarding this issue and felt we were headed for calmer waters. Not sure if anything changed, but he is a good guy. This site is about sharing common interests and having fun. No one was banned over the above incident. We are all grown ups lets move on to what brought us here the passion we have for these cars. We can agree to disagree and still have fun. The wealth of information shared on this site is infinite, and that's because of you our members. Lets uncover another barn find.

Shauger summed it up almost perfectly, but lemme just add this...in the eyes of us moderators, this issue was never about whether the car was real/fake...honestly, I couldn't care less, I stopped caring after the 2nd thread was deleted back in December. The problem was the personal jabs & innuendo that continued (and still does), after a *private* appeal to simply "agree to disagree", and finally a public appeal to do the same...but when it continued, then it reflected on the moderators. And here's a newsflash folks: the personal conflicts of members in PMs/Emals/Phone Calls is beyond our control...why we should take responsibility for something we cannot control is beyond me, but we are. Also, no one was banned, or even asked to leave...it was their choice.
And here's my personal $.02...the thing that *really* bothers me here is the court of personal opinion hanging us out to dry, simply on the basis of *1* side of the story...how many of you bothered, or even cared, to see if their was another side to this coin? I'll tell you, other than my fellow moderators who were in the loop the entire time, I personally got 1 email asking for the real scoop and dad got 1 phone call...so apparently, folks had heard all they wanted to hear, which is certainly their prerogative, but not necessarily the "big picture". Moderating this little sand box has gotten to be a real chore, and seems to get worse by the day, and it still amazes me anyone would even agree to take on the job when we ask them...and this may surprise some of you, but THIS IS NOT OUR JOB. The moderators all have 9-5s (or 24/7s in our case), and moderating a webpage is not what puts food on our tables...we're simply doing the best we can, and all we ask for in return is cooperation, and to ease up when asked, and work with us...if you can't do that, then well, we're gonna "moderate" and there's a chance you're not gonna like how it's gonna turn out, that's just the way it is, and you can either hate it, love it, or leave it... I'll finish by saying "I agree" with what was said previously about Ken's knowledge and humorous relief in his posts...how and why we ever got to this point makes my brain hurt. ![]() |

It gets lonely at the top sometimes...but judgements and calls have to be made....it's much better than an out of control forum..........I really didn't follow this particular discussion...but I know how far down the road some topics go even when they run out of gas 3miles back..........
Anyway, hope you guys can make nice and come back to the sandbox even if now and again somebody kicks sand in your eyes..........My hats off to the moderators who have to take their decisions on the chin now and again.....ADIOS............. |
