Small blocks do use the strip,it there to keep water off the back of the engine and firewall.

[/ QUOTE ]

All Novas use the rear strip, but only AC Novas use the front strip. That front strip is used in conjunction with the special roll pan under the front end.

This makes good sense. I figured it was an A/C only item. What exactly is the "special roll pan" I have a portion of the forward crossmember that does not look correct, any pics?

Thanks guys for the input.

Tommy thank you! I just ordered a new set of bezels with the 350 upgrade

Here is the pan that came on A/C equiped Novas. It was made out of some sort of plastic material.

69 Camaros with air had something similar.

I don't have one of those and we removed most of the AC components. The car must have shred the pan when it had an encounter with an immovable object that left a serious mark underneath.

BTW new AC weatherstrip is not readily available. The Classic Industries Camaro one is the wrong shape for Nova.

The Chevelle one is supposed to match. I have yet to order one.

Oh Yeah it uses the same metal clips as the 68-69 big Blocks Radiator flap.

The 69 AIM shows a similar (or identical) pan to the one on the Nova pic, above, but I'm not sure if any have actually been found on a Camaro. Anyone have experience with one?

Camaro and Nova are not the same. Nova is part # 3940212 and Camaro is # 3949856. While they may both do the same function, the Nova baffle goes farther forward than the Camaro baffle does. If you have an assembly manual, the pictures and part numbers are shown in the C60 section.

Here is a picture from the Nova assembly manual. I don't have a 69 Camaro manual at home.

The plastic air scoop thingy on 73-74 Nova is a different design than this one. I can upload a picture if anyone wants to see what it looks like.

Both the strip and the scoop thingy are difficult items to find, we are always checking the yards for them - most are gone or damaged.
