I just got the email too, thanks DC..
The only thing worse then the initial nature of this meeting,is the late public advance notice about it.

If you care to contact some of the "Authorities" and voice your opinion here are some contacts. And remember, you're near Chicago so 'Vote Early and Vote Often'.

I would contact the city and ask them why there was such short notice?

They have to provide a reasonable amount of advance notice of the proposed meeting and have to send out a notice to the surrounding houses and businesses...or I'd ask them to table the discussion unitl a reasonable amount of time can be given....

Somebody please help me with the term "light pollution". I really hope that that is not in reference to the track lighting being visible from a distance and being to bright or something. Some people would just tend to call that "civilization"!

This...someone more familiar with Sunshine laws can chime in here, but there are standards for amount of notice, type of notice, etc, that must be given in regards to public meetings.

Gripes my soul to hear of another track threatened with closure...I swear, people get more ignorant by the day. It's comparable to me moving next to an airport, then complaining about planes flying over...

Exactly my point!

And as was pointed out on the H.A.M.B. thread, has anyone ever checked the decibel level at a High School Football or Softball game? And how about the 'Light Pollution' generated by the gegawatt lighting at virtually ANY sporting venue. (OK, now I've pi$$ed off all you athlete-types, but so be it!)

I question how much weight a bunch of e-mails from non-locals will pack, but it's sure worth a try. Typically, the city fathers will cave under pressure of the most vocal citizens, right or wrong, and it's been my experience that those who whine the loudest have the least to say. Just another reason to HATE politics.

Just my humble opinions so if you disagree state your own opinion but stay outta my shorts; I don't really care.
