Greg...I believe he is telling the truth (am I correct Steve? )
I remember him telling the story about when he bought the Pace Car and how his dad got him confused with his older brother (did not realize he was only 14 )

You have to admit that does not happen very often. Guess Steve got the bug way early in life OK, Steve you have to elaborate on this.

When I graduated from high school, I got a six-month old '63 Corvette coupe, 340 hp. The first clutch lasted almost until the end of summer.

Tex
I hope you are happily reliving your first Vette.

I answered an ad for a 56 Chevy 210 post car. Lady said if I could get it out of the garage before her husband got home I could have it for $500. because she was cleaning out the garage. I feel bad for the guy now, but I was only 15 and didn't see the big picture. I never kept the good cars in the home garage. :-) Think that guy stayed married long...Might have a pic of the 56, somewhere.

Quite right.

Here's the Z11 back in 1977. All 145 pounds of me at the time (most of that was the hairdo). I had saved every dollar I had since I was born and bought it for $2,700. One of five kids, my parents were rather frazzled and could never keep track of who was who. I thought it was kind of weird when my dad OK'd the purchase and helped sign the paperwork. When we got it home my mom says to him: "You know HE is 14 and his brother is 16!" He just looked at me with that Al Bundy, head-shaking look and walked to the living room and sat down on the couch in front of the TV. My brother ended up getting a Daytona Yellow SS396 4-speed Camaro a month later.

...and the shnozola of the Superbird in the high school parking lot circa 1979.

Never would have guessed, not only your first car being most us here our dream car, but at 14! Did you sell it to get the bird at 16? That is amazing to have those back to back, but more amazing that you did it at 14, and then 16 years of age! Sorry I doubted you but could you blame me???

Those were just the first in my never-ending series of weird cars over the past 30 something years. I first learned how to take a car apart with that Z11. Unfortunately, I didnt learn how to put one back together til 3 or 4 cars later.
