I went to look at that car back then.I kept a copy of the invoice that the guy was handing out.The car was in fact a 72,It had a 10 bolt with 4.10's.The LS6 was just rebuilt, and ran great.the car was super solid. It had huge flares all around and Hurricane wheels I think.Wheel flkares were cracking and the car was half primed, but it would have been an easy restore, nice interior and all the original Motion work intact. It was converted in 76 I think and the owner was a guy from Patterson New Jersey with an Itailian or Hispanic sounding name. The car was in Pomption Plains when I saw it I think.I have posted around these forums a few times with no results.I will post back if I find it.

the wheels on that car were the turbine wheels from what I remember. And wow was it ugly with those flares on all four wheels.

Thanks Rich, for comfirming that it was not just a dream..hehe...I wonder if he eventually sold the car to the guy that just wanted the drivetrain...That is one of them shoulda..coulda cars...
Just prior to that car coming up for sale, I had been contacted about my ZL-1 that I had the original motor for..(I eventually bought the car..and recently sold it)...so I was having a one-track mind for a while there trying to figure out how to save enough pennies to fill my pockets and figure on making an offer on the ZL-1 car. After talking to a few people, I actually called the guy back about a week later thinking to actually buy the car for his price, but he had sold it.... I'm surprised the car has not shown up...although not a Baldwin car..it was a real converted Motion 454 car...with all the goodies and the Motion reciepts...probably now worth a little more than the 5k that I probably could have bought the car for!!! |

the wheels on that car were the turbine wheels from what I remember. And wow was it ugly with those flares on all four wheels. [/ QUOTE ] The flare weren't that horrible, they were the bubble type flares, not the flat or concave style ones,so it had the road race style look. There was another supposed Motion car running around central Jersey back in the early 90's,it was a 74{I think} with flares on the back only,a 454 and an L88 hood, the car was owned by a few teenagers who used to street race at the same spot on Staten Island that I used to race at.The car didnt look like somebody was trying to do a replica, the rear of the car had old paint and cracks on the flares, and the front and roof were primer.Maybe it had 4 wheel flares and the fenders were swapped, maybe the car only had rear flares to begin with.Either way,the car was being beat like a red headed step child by a bunch of kids from Sommerville New Jersey. It was fast back in those days and ran along with or a little better then my junkyard 400 smallblock on nitrous 82 Camaro which ran well into the 12's.By the way the car was being abused,I doubt it survived much longer. |
