Default Re: Musclecars in Colorado

I called the guy selling the V code Challenger last weekend. He still had it. However, NO fender tag(s), NO broadcast sheet(s), NO VIN stamped on the radiator support, NO VIN stamped on the rear trunk lip (mopar guys you know what I mean here), NO paperwork, NO VIN sticker at the door. NO nothing other than the VIN on the dash. NOT correct numbers engine, NOT the correct #'s transmission. So, you tell me, a real "V" code?

The more I talked and asked SPECIFIC questions the less he wanted to stay on the phone. I asked him to check a few things out and have NOT heard back.

He shared that he has another V code car so I believe he KNOWS where I am going, but won't contribute any further.

Now, don't mistake me here, I am not calling him a liar, or selling off what could be a fake, but if it were me I would really think twice before spending 26k for this car. By the time you were to get all the numbers correct you would be in it for much more, and when and if one would sell, most would be buyers would be just as concerned, or least I would hope so. Buyer beware.

...and since the Challengers and Cudas had the VIN tag riveted to the vinyl dash pad and not a structural piece of the car, VIN swapping is as easy as swapping dash pads, unfortunately. So, if the only thing that says it's a V-code car is that dash tag, then I would consider it suspect until proven otherwise.

Wide open spaces out the back of that tank, SmallHurst. Paid $700 for it with a blown motor. I dig the factory AM/FM/CB. The rear window does make me nervous tho; I dont know where I'd ever find another one if it broke.

I know of a couple of guys who have those cars and have a spare glass for the back just in case!!!

For those of you playing at home wondering what I am talking about, it was a 2 year wonder with a wrap-around pillarless back glass. Hemmings does a decent job of discribing it.... Toro XS
