There was a pretty good article in yesterdays newspaper about the frames rusting away on the Tundra trucks. They have had a rust problem for years, but it was kept out of the news media. The frames rusts so bad the brake and fuel lines are breaking. No surprise there though.

How was it kept out of the news media? This has been known for a long time.

I haven't. It may have been known for a long time, but not acknowledged, like ANY recall of the Big Three has been.

Toyota stands behind their cars better than any others in my opinion. Just look at the 90s v06 headgasket recalls and recent Tacoma complete recalls due to rust issues.

All Lexus' do have the clips to hold the mats in place on the driver's side. The problem is that people are putting the all weather mats on top of the regular carpet mats, and the clips won't hold them both in place - the rubber mat comes loose and slids up. Simple solution - take out the carpet mats. I sold Lexus for a couple of years and always advised owners to take out the carpet mats when installing all weather mats, but some people don't listen.

Or perhaps you're looking for bias. |

The tie strap fix is an interim fix until they come up with a permanent solution. As for the frame rot-yep, we've seen a few Tacomas with bad frames at the dealer I work for however Toyota has been paying 150% of book value to buy back the trucks (making current owners VERY happy) on trucks up to year 1999. On 2000-1 trucks they are replacing the frames (and the "kit" contains new suspension, fuel lines park brake cables etc etc)
