That 986 flat ring that the rubber ring attaches to was original to Chevelle (Camaro was oval shaped, Chevelle was round with one edge cut off), but Chevrolet later superceded it for use with Camaro also. The 233 extention ring is for use with a 302/Z28. Looks like he got at least three of the #233 extentions. Assembly line correct housings also had a notch in the seam on the side of the snorkel where it folded over.

Nice score, but that fact that it is laying flat on the desk means there is no breather tube welding in the base. Is there pics of the base?
