I want to thank everyone who sent me info on these cars. ZI posted everywhere i could find and actually verified a few cars, found two missing cars, and talked to Ted Kijak, Ross Gilbert, and Dick Erlandson who actually raced these cars. Also corresponded with others, and the sons of 3 drivers who have since passed away. the info I was able to compile is incredible-and it's free to anyone. Tom, I'm curious if ( being an AMC guy ) how much you know about the 1971 Machine Matador. I know this much. It was a option called " Go Machine " on the Matador. I've heard the less then 50 made before. I also know it had no hood scoop or crazy RWB paint like the 70's. I always liked the body style of these cars. Sure would like to stumble on a 71 machine with a 401 and a 4 speed !!!

You are right-no hoodscoops. they did come with the 15" Machine wheels and 4bbl carbs, either 360 or 401. There were right around 50 with the 4 speed, and probably an equal amount with the auto. A rare car!

Been awhile since I posted here and was hoping someone may have found something of interest. I did find Jim Riley of Mich, but not his car. Last known it was blue with "Camrisers" on the rear quarter panel. Found the Beachy Brothers car from Kokomo, IN. Located some owners but not their cars such as Van Buskirk and Copey out of Oklahoma. I am looking for any and all photos of these cars-maybe in the pits as a background, staging lane, etc. Have found 43 cars, identified another 8 but location unknown. That leaves only 2 left!

They were sure very cool cars. I wish I could help but you seem to be an AMC guy already and know a lot more then most. Ever see a Droke Brothers Javelin ?
