I believe they only get $4500. Since the car can't be resold and the engine will be turned into a useless metal block, that's all the (misinformed) owner gets.

I think you are entitles to $3500/$4500 plus the dealers best estimate of the scrap value of the car -$50 administative fee.

It has me wondering, if you could get the $3500/$4500 and then not accept the scap value and get the car back after the engine has been killed?

Here is an example of an Audi which has a very high value in the sum of it's parts. Has anyone heard of such a thing?
