Do you think they really did it? I met Buzz Aldrin. We used to live right next door to his sister Maddy.

Half the population of our planet wasn't even born when it happend.

Lucky for me I am part of the other half, was only twelve that summer of 69, but remember the day as if it was yesterday.

The building of the Giza pyramides and the Apollo program must be the two greatest accomplishment of mankind.

Putting a man on the moon was the greatest accomplishment in the history of mankind. The only other accomplishment that even comes close is the development & release of the General Motors HEI distributor in 1975: an entire ignition system self contained and powered by a single 12-volt wire.

Pretty crazy considering that in 1908 the Wright Brothers had their first "passenger" flight of an airplane...then on March 3,1959 we "flew by" the moon with Pioneer 4!

That's only 51 years later!

Then on April 23rd, 1962 we impacted the moon with Ranger 4, we "Soft" landed on the moon on May 30th 1966 with Surveyor 1 (unmanned)...and kept going from there.

Truly a HUGE jump in knowledge and ability in a very short time history wise...

All the men who went into space are heroes to me,Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are the ones we remember most, but if it was not for the other programs and other astronauts, they would not have had the chance to walk on the moon. All of the astronauts had "The Right Stuff" in my book.
