This is one of the clamshell wagons. The window goes up into the roof, and the tailgate goes under the floor. If there are problems with the tailgate, it would be better to walk away from it. I see by the duct tape around the tailgate, that it might have problems.

Those are getting harder to come by - very sought after by the demo derby crowd. 1975 was be the height of the smog era, but that can be remedied.
![]() If you've got time, I'd track down the Fisher body manual - there's a section on the care and feeding of the clamshell tailgate that will let you know what you're in for if something goes wrong. Right rear quarter looks to have been repainted; would we classify this as pea green, or puke green? ![]() |

Thanks for helping me...
Yeah, the color green is horrible... looks like a puke green pea primer ![]() I have got time with the car... I´m thinking about "what can i do with it..." bevor i get buying the car... My idea(s): - 90% Original - two tone color paint (white / green?) - alternative: scooby doo color ![]() - new (tiki) interieur (two tone seats and so on...) - engine rebuilt, but original - modern 15" wheels... maybe 8" in front, 10" or 12" rear - Surfboard strap on the roof - tow bar for boat trailer (driving license for boats cost ~USD800,- here... i will do this in 2010 )I like the car... but i´m not a millionaire... Whats the problem exactly with the tailgate? And what does it cost this ride in the U.S.? Thanks pals ![]() |

The other thing is, I guarantee you that restoring that wagon will be absurdly difficult. It wasn't easy restoring my '68 442, and they're somewhat popular (not really, but way more than an '75 Olds wagon).
You're definitely better off finding one like Jim had here in the US and shipping it. In the long run, the cost comparison to a resto won't even be close. |
