To start out, originals (at least the early ones) had a flat bottom on the base where the filter sits. Later GM and most reproductions have a wide ridge under where the filter fits. Let's see if I can find my pictures.
Look at these pictures. cowl air cleaner Also, the snout has a "notch" on the side of the seam, as is shown in the pictures.

I used to buy the "then current" GM production in the 80's for some cars I worked on, and they looked much like the one you bought. Sometime late in 1969 production they went from the flat bottom to the ridged bottom and then the 70 Chevelles also used the ridged bottom cleaner, but with a different flat metal ring for the Chevelles instead of having the oval ring that the Camaros used. The vent tube on yours also looks to come out at a slightly different angle. Is your vent tube bent with one 90 degree bend or two 45 degree bends?
