Sully,
You are correct. The only way you could had a lower gear installed on a 70 Nova is if the dealer installed it per the customers request. The 3.55 ratio was the lowest you could have ordered from the factory.

Regardless of the authenticity of the car, how does anyone know how many they made? That's something that I thought wasn't documented?

I agree with Sully on the rear ratios. I would need to see a window sticker, or invoice showing something lower than a 3.55 to verify it.
The number 311 seems to be a catch all for L89 production. Some believe that number is for 311 camaros, 311 Chevelles, and 311 Novas. Some think that's an overall production number. I won't argue either way. But if there were supposed to be 311 Novas, one with absolute bullet proof docs should have shown up by now. I want to believe there are some out there. We just need positive proof.

I bet 311 is correct for Camaros.

To me if an L89 Nova was ever made it would have been in 1968 or 1969. I think by 1970 aluminum heads were falling out of favor with the factory because of all of the warranty issues. Has there ever been a documented L89 1970 Camaro?

Ken
Good point on the 311 figure, I always take that one with a grain of salt. No way did Camaro, Chevelle, and Nova each have 311 L89 cars each, more like 311 total L89's built @ Tonawanda....

So, does anyone here think it is the read-deal L89 or not?
