You are correct.The only way you could had a lower gear installed on a 70 Nova is if the dealer installed it per the customers request.The 3.55 ratio was the lowest you could have ordered from the factory. |

Regardless of the authenticity of the car, how does anyone know how many they made? That's something that I thought wasn't documented?

I agree with Sully on the rear ratios. I would need to see a window sticker, or invoice showing something lower than a 3.55 to verify it.
The number 311 seems to be a catch all for L89 production. Some believe that number is for 311 camaros, 311 Chevelles, and 311 Novas. Some think that's an overall production number. I won't argue either way. But if there were supposed to be 311 Novas, one with absolute bullet proof docs should have shown up by now. I want to believe there are some out there. We just need positive proof. |

To me if an L89 Nova was ever made it would have been in 1968 or 1969. I think by 1970 aluminum heads were falling out of favor with the factory because of all of the warranty issues. Has there ever been a documented L89 1970 Camaro?

Good point on the 311 figure, I always take that one with a grain of salt. No way did Camaro, Chevelle, and Nova each have 311 L89 cars each, more like 311 total L89's built @ Tonawanda.... ![]() Mike |
