[ QUOTE ]
Last Thursday I had to help cut a 43 year old man out of his truck and another very seriously injured man from his SUV after he slammed the pickup head on at a combined speed of 120 mph while not paying attention. I felt pretty safe in my 1 ton Dually until I saw what can really happen if hit in the wrong place. You could not see daylight looking through the drivers door of the deceased man's truck and the engine was nearly besides him.

I think a lot of people feel safe in big trucks, by the way they drive them, but I've seen some horrific crashes over the years. This one was a couple of years ago when I was coming south from Fort McMurray, Ab. A 1 ton dually, and a 3/4 ton met coming in opposite directions. The Dually had a pallet of bags of cement, and was towing a trailer loaded with insulation on an icy road when a crosswind caught them by surprise. The pickup T-boned the Dually, and this was the result. 2 dead and 4 critically injured. You'll notice the bed on the Dually is flat upside down, and the front is on it's side. The frame twisted that much.
