Your Guys are very spiteful i think.
Maybe they have a High Performance Wheelchair and they are going on the 1/4 mile  Or it´s a Prototype with Carbon/Magnesium/Titanium Frame and they are doing a Testdrive to proof the stability and travelling behaviour  I´m sure, the Whellchair has got a 10.01 sec at the 1/4 mile...

...the weight is needed for traction...simple physics you need a lot of force on the tires because of the relatively small surface (footprint) of the tires....otherwise the tires would probably go up in smoke...
