Default Re: Original AC A212CW Air Filter

I think Mark's correct in his original description about this.
True, they did use cross mesh as well as diamond mesh filters on several assembly lines during the same time peroid, but those that started <u>"Best Way To</u> Protect Your Engine-Replace With AC Type A212CW" were what AC was producing during the late 1960's into early 1970's.
Sometime during 1974,they dropped the words <u>"Best Way To"</u>,and adopted the shortened version that Marks shows.
I talk among other parts hounds about these when they come up for sale, and we reference them Best Way or NOT Best Way filters.
I consider Charleys filter the original assembly line installed filter, and Marks correct for a 1974 or later assembly.
That yellowing is the original capture oil they saturated these with back then.
Very fairly priced considering what it is.

I am going to start a thread on these filters in the technical discussion forum. Maybe together, we can all learn a little more about them.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks Rick again for your input! Mark, I now see the difference...Charley's is a "Best way" and the one you sold is not. I would have never noticed that minor detail unless Rick pointed it out! At least the mystery for me is clear now.
