Default Re: Cars to watch at Barrett Jackson

If you don't want to sell your car at the price that it went off the block at, you were able to pay both sides of the commission and keep it. Which meant, you paid 20% of the sale price to BJ. They frown on this now because people who bought cars, went in to pay and found out the car that they thought was now theirs was not really sold to them.

The way sellers get around this now is to either bid on the car themselves or more likely have a friend do it. Once the money is worked out after the fact, they are still out 20% to BJ plus the listing fee (usually $800 or more) plus the shipping and cost to be there. That's why I laugh when someone says to me, "Well if I took my car to BJ I would get more money". My reply is always, "Do you think so? Then you should take it there and learn the game."
