Thanks Rixls6 and ls6 ragtop. I wondered about this also as Colvin stated the year would indicate "70". My heads are in fact cast "E070" so may, in fact, be 1980 or 1990 castings. Since no "T" on them, as Colvin also said there would/should be.

That's if Tonawanda casted them.
I believe your 291 heads were cast in 1970,not 1980 or 90. Tonawanda used the double digit year code,CFD did not. |

CFD Casted many service and over the counter parts for GM in the late 1970's and early 1980's. I bet they are service 291's casted in 1980.

I've seen that CFD on some 291 heads that were dated 8 for the year so they must have been 78 or 88 dated heads. I would think those heads are from 80 or 90 but I'm not an expert and haven't researched it very much.
