NASCAR has finally killed off Petty Enterprises

In my opinion NASCAR started dying February 18, 2001. Earnhardt was their strongest supporter, and at the same time, their most severe critic. He had the clout to stand up to the France family and be the voice of the common man. When he died there was no one left to be the equalizer. I always felt Kyle Petty might have stepped into that role. He didn't have the strength that Earnhardt carried, but he had the family backing (Petty), and I think he could have garnered the support of the core of drivers to keep things in balance. That's all gone now so the greed of NASCAR can now continue on their suicide mission. I really don't care since I quit watching two years ago.

And BTW, if the NHRA doesn't deep-six their latest 'Grand Idea' of the points equalization fiasco, they're headed in the same direction.
