Charley all the undercoats pics brings a smile to my face, when I worked at the dealer we had a old guy Clint and he did them like that, you for sure got your $150 undercoat job with him,

in his defense I asked about his job one time and ribbed him about it, the machine he used was from the 50's, he said when you pulled the trigger on the machine you better be moving fast and know where the gun was aimed, it was a hokey looking knozzel like a small air gun and it did really lay down a wide swath of black goo when you hit it and it was allot of the black goo taboot, must have been the same machine and his brother doing it back there.

I know what you mean about those old machines. My 70 Charger had the extra $50 undercoat job done by the dealer before delivery. The entire bottom of my car, from one end to the other, is covered in a 1/4 inch thick layer of that petrified Labrea Tar Pits goo.

My unrestored/original '69Z was sold new in Toronto, and got the same dealer undercoating - it's all still there; I only worked the prop valve in the photo to verify the date.

John,
No offense, but that's a thin coat of black paint over everything. Not dealer undercoating.
Verne

Here's an example of dealer undercoating (mid-cleaning). Just as sloppy as Charley's original Z. and from the bottom up; not the top down.
