I would rather not replace the mirror since it was missing when sold new. Just kinda cool history.

Popping the Mirror on may have been part of the Dealer prep?

I wondered that myself but just looked at that old photo of the 70s on the railway and there is a rearview mounted..

Stefano, Charley and all, The fact that the mirror was missing when SOLD may be true........and evidently is part of THIS cars history.

I certainly hope that people dont take this one particular item and try to make some gospel from it......

Can anybody imagine buying a NEW car today, and driving it 1100 miles without a rear view mirror. WHY Norman would not have had this addressed is beyond all imagination.

At any rate its my opinion that EVERY 70+ Camaro left the assy line with its rear view mirror totally in place.

Somewhere between Norwood and Norman taking receipt of the car, the mirror and extension arm went AWOL........

Charley
I'll bet the leather protection cap was used to cover over the NEG (Tach wire) terminal on the ignition coil.I've noticed a few there,& seen them more prevalent on Tach equipped cars, then ones w/o.

Randy, I have a lousy memory for these details........

but this stripe subject has been documented in detail at www.nastyz28.com It a difference between Norwood and L.A. built Camaros.

PLEASE try searching in the ORIGINAL forum and hopefully you will find.

Thanks,

There are many examples of Van Nuys cars where the stripes stop short of the back window. There MAY also be issues with different stripe spacing.
