Default Re: what year is this Torino?

Friend of mine who worked for Ford ordered up a new 70-1/2 Falcon, dark green, 429 SCJ, drag pack. Removed all emblems.Car would snap your neck shifting with auto trans. raced it for 2 years, sold it to a guy who wrapped it around a pole 4 weeks later. When he first took it to the track, NHRA tech couldn't figure out how to class the car. Can't remember what times he was running, but was running Stock.

Actually, a T-37 with the 455 HO would be more along the same lines because it didn't have any sporting pretensions, unlike the GT-37, which was Pontiac's version of the Road Runner.

I seem to remember ( yeah I'm old ) that the line up was 6cyl 350/2bbl 400/4bbl and a 455 4/bbl. So the GT was just a dress up ?

The engine doesn't determine the car, but the option package.

The T-37 replaced the Tempest.

The GT-37 was an option that brought some heavy duty stuff like on the GTO. Standard was the 350-2, but for 1971, options went up to the 455 HO.

However, the same engine was available on the T-37, and many of the heavy duty stuff was too. It all depended on what kind of Q-ship one wanted.
