Ok I went up and took a picture of the driver side valve cover of the 68 full size 396 motor that I have. It has the same little offset as Kim's valve cover. So would this be the correct valve cover for a 1968 disk brake car? Kim if I am not mistaking didn't all the Gibb cars have power drum brakes? Someone might be able to verify this that has an original 68 bb camaro with disk brakes?

Here's a pic with moor in the car. I think the wasn't all the way one the frame mounts at time. Close on the booster.
I think the motor mounts were the wrong ones if I remember right.

Kim thanks for the pictures. I am going to try them on my car when I do my motor swap in a couple of weeks. If they fit they are going off to be re-chromed!

Well I took the valve covers off the 68 396 that I have. They came out real nice after I blasted them. The only difference from the pictures that were posted is, these valve covers don't have the drippers. Is this because it was a 325hp motor. It makes no sense why they had different versions of valve covers for different HP cars! If any one is interested in pictures I can post them.

In theory yes,solid lifter engines were the ones that received the drippers above them,but some hydraulics did too,even though it wasn't the norm.But some solids didn't either.

Some d/s valve covers have the bump-out on the inside rear corner and a little flat on the outside rear corner, like the top one in SuperNovaSS's pics.
Other d/s valve covers have the bump-out on the inside rear corner and but do NOT have the little flat outside rear corner, like the one in Kim's pics. Mine has drippers, has the forward plug wire stand, and is the exact shape of the one in Kim's pics. Mine also has the temp sending wire clip just forward of the third bolt hole on the outside. Can't tell about Kim's. Until this thread, I was positive mine was correct for 69 L72 Camaro. Can someone confirm? |

I also noticed on the drivers side wire tower it has a small tab bent out with a hole. Never seen this before. Kim's picture has it also? They will be a nice touch to my new L78 motor going into the Nova in a couple of week's. They will be going of to the re-chromer this week

JASON I THINK THE SPARK PLUG WIRE HOLDER IS MORE FORWARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE THATS BIG CAR. I THINK NOVA CAMARO SAME 68 ONLY.LOOK AT PIC KIM HOWIE HAS THE TOWER IS MUCH FOWARD THATS THE WAY MY ORGINAL IS TO ON MY 68 L78
