In 70 they shared the engine suffix codes across the various lines of cars so it wouldn't be surprising to see an L89 coded motor in any of the cars. But like mentioned, documentation needs to be strong and any possible contact with original owners to help back it up. Never say never with GM! Heck, according to some Chevy paperwork, you could get the LS6 in the Camaro!
