Default 1968 Z28 starter overheating?

I have had a somewhat chronic problem with my 1968 Z28. Original mo 302 with stock exhaust manifolds. Car always cranks and starts right up cold. Runs great does not overheat. However after a drive of 20 minutes or longer, after shutting it off the starter cranks REAL slow almost like the battery is dyi ng. It will start. After cooling off for an hour it cranks normal again. Could the starter be overheating and could that cause this problem. If yes. Is there a fix. Thanks for listening, Bob
