Default Re: '69 Torino GT 428 Cobra Jet???

Numbers are stamped on the inner fender/underhood locations. On some Fords, the number is hidden on the passenger side fender location, and visible on driver's side. Look in the fenderwell for the underside of the stamp if you're skeptical. Door tag VIN # is often replicated and not usable for registration anyway. If the cowl VIN and fenderwell stamped VIN match, the only thing left is to get a Marti Report (www.martiautoworks.com) and order up a build-sheet type record, as he has the Ford Data, and make sure the car was built as stated (colors, options, etc). Check the CJ-specific stuff, especially if its a Drag Pack car. Those pieces are expensive, and often times were pirated from mid size CJ cars to restore Mustangs and Shelbys. Don't expect to find a VIN on the back of the block under the driver's side cylinder head. My experience is that VIN stamping on the FE engines was inconsistent at best from '68-'70.
