You have to buy a lot of books, Kevin. Because there isn´t one book that says it all. One book you should buy is "Chevrolet Big-Block Muscle Cars" by Anthony Young, (Muscle car color history, Motorbooks International). There´s some good pictures of really nice cars in there, with a lot of written information.
